Eloise ... the story so far ...

I have now completed the second year of my degree and I thoroughly enjoyed my subjects this year. Whilst they continued to challenge me, they built upon the foundational science units from last year and I felt they became more focused on agricultural systems and the content I was learning was more applied to an agricultural context which I enjoyed.

At this years commencement dinner I received the Tony Cartwright Memorial Prize which is awarded to the student with the highest GPA from a first year ag-related degree at my college. From here, I have continued to commit myself to my studies whilst still being involved in my colleges netball and hockey teams, being a academic mentor, and still managing to enjoy the social aspects of college life.

Subjects this year included: Introductory genetics; Animal structure and function; Animal production systems and products; Agricultural plants: adaptation and physiology; Introduction to breeding and genetics; Applied research skills in environmental and rural science; Business skills for agricultural consultants; and Biochemistry and microbiology for rural science.

I will be staying at Robb College again for my third year in 2024, and I have a leadership role - Academic Resident Leader which entails me having my own floor to run as well as running the academic organisation/study sessions and helping organise talks/presentations from sponsors and agricultural companies throughout the year. I'll definitely be busy but I'm excited!
